The following is a letter written by Robert (Susan's husband) on 3/22/2006:
Dear Family and friends,
Many of you know that Susan has been struggling with her health for quite some time. The beginning of last year was rough, but she rallied back and made some improvements. Then, at the end of last July, she fell while walking outside for her daily walk and injured her lower right foot/ankle, which turned into Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy with constant pain and swelling. This, added to the weight loss, multiple chemical sensitivities and irritable bowel syndrome, has created quite a challenging situation for us. Last Monday, when I thought we can't get much else, I received a call from Kristina, our daughter, telling me that Susan was in extreme pain and I needed to come home. I drove home immediately and found Susan with great pain in her lower back and spine. I got an emergency appointment with a Dr. of Chiropractic and Neurology and after the initial examination the x-rays revealed that Susan had severe osteoporosis and nerves that were being pinched in her lower back which were causing the extreme pain. We are also in contact with a doctor at Desert Hospital who has seen Susan and is willing and trying to help. We have been to the doctors office everyday which has been very challenging for Susan because of the regular pain and the fact that traveling is painful as well. I have have not been back to work the last several days and won't be able to for some time. I have been working two jobs just to keep up with the expenses of taking care of the household and Susan's needs. Kristina has been her moms right-hand for sometime now, but this situation is to much for her to handle alone and I am needed at home to help Susan. Many of you know Susan has been trying many avenues over the years to improve her health. Her diet has been all organic and vegan to eventually raw foods. She exercises, prays unceasingly, has taken various health supplements, fasted, juiced, cleansed and various other things, but her condition has gradually declined and she has become ultra sensitive to her environment. I am asking everyone to keep us in your prayers for we need to get the answers that Susan needs right away.
